EMDR, Brainspotting & ART Intensives · Connecticut
Months of progress, in days. Therapy intensives in Connecticut.
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for real change, an intensive condenses the healing work of EMDR, Brainspotting and ART into longer, immersive sessions over one, two or three days, designed for faster breakthroughs and deeper relief than traditional weekly therapy.

Does this resonate?
This may be right for you if…
- You want significant progress on a specific issue in a short window.
- Weekly therapy feels too slow, or you cannot fit it into your schedule.
- You are an athlete, first responder or professional with a clear goal.
- You have done therapy before and know what you want to work on.
- You are traveling to Connecticut, or can set aside one to three days.
What is a therapy intensive?
Instead of 45-minute sessions spread out over months, an intensive offers several hours of therapy over one or more days. That sustained focus creates momentum that weekly therapy struggles to match: no losing the thread between sessions, no spending the first fifteen minutes catching up, no waiting a week to continue something that was finally moving.
Brainspotting, EMDR and ART are cutting-edge, brain-body therapies that help people process unresolved trauma, navigate emotional blocks, and access their innate capacity for healing and resilience. In an intensive, that work is condensed into extended reprocessing blocks with breaks, check-ins and a meal built into the day.
Who intensives are for
Intensives are ideal for athletes working through performance anxiety, a slump or the aftermath of an injury; first responders and healthcare workers healing after a critical incident or cumulative exposure; high-achievers and busy professionals who cannot commit to months of weekly appointments but want real, lasting progress; and anyone processing trauma, grief, burnout or a major life event who is ready to do focused work.
Many people also find that doing difficult work over one to three days is more manageable, and more empowering, than stretching it out over months. It is not about doing it "the right way," but about choosing what fits your life, your goals and your readiness to heal.
Why choose an intensive?
Rapid results. Ideal for those who want meaningful change in a shorter amount of time.
Deeper focus. Extended sessions allow us to go beyond surface-level issues and work on core emotional patterns, unresolved trauma and limiting beliefs.
Custom-tailored. Every intensive is designed around your goals, whether that is overcoming trauma, a performance block, grief, anxiety, or building mental strength after a major life event.
Efficient for busy people. Great for professionals, athletes, first responders, or anyone who cannot commit to ongoing weekly sessions.
What the research says
Intensive delivery of trauma-focused therapy is well tolerated by people with PTSD, produces faster symptom relief with comparable or better outcomes than weekly treatment, and reduces premature dropout. Studies of intensive formats show substantial improvement in PTSD symptoms within a condensed timeframe, including for complex PTSD.
There is a practical argument too. Compared with traditional weekly trauma therapy, the intensive format can shorten total treatment time by cutting the hours spent on session recaps, week-to-week crisis management, and stabilization skills that become unnecessary once the underlying trauma is resolved.

Can insurance cover the cost of an EMDR intensive?
No. Insurance companies do not cover intensive sessions, so intensives are an out-of-pocket investment. Standard weekly sessions remain covered by insurance.
Is an intensive worth the time and money?
Intensives allow you to receive the benefit of months of therapy in a short period of time. The investment is similar to what you would pay over time for weekly therapy, except you receive relief in days rather than months.
Which modality will you use?
Reprocessing sessions use ART, Brainspotting or EMDR depending on your needs and preference. Many intensives blend more than one.
Not ready for an intensive but want longer sessions?
Extended sessions are offered for EMDR, ART and Brainspotting outside of insurance. Please inquire about pricing and availability.
Can I do an intensive online?
Intensives are generally offered in person at the Newington office for the best experience. Virtual options may be possible in some circumstances; ask during your consultation.
